Gallery History
Claudia Chapline has been prsenting new California art since 1974.
Founder/Director of the Institute for Dance and Experimental Art
in Santa Monica, and the Institute for Design and Experimental
Art (I.D.E.A) in Sacramento, she established the Claudia Chapline
Gallery in Stinson Beach in 1987.

The exhibition spaces include two spacious sky-lit galleries and
the sculpture garden. Claudia Chapline presents changing
exhibitions of unique new painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed
media, and fine craft by West Coast Artists.

The sculpture garden was created in 1992 in collaboration with
Lisa Herbert, H & H Horticulture. Sculptures in various media
and styles are set among rocks and native plants with a
spectacular view of coastal mountains. In 1999 Claudia
commissioned Mark Nichols to create ‘Sea Wall’, the garden
entry steel gate fence.

The gallery works with private and corporate collectors.
The gallery also sponsors special events, art tours and
international exchange exhibitions.
