| DAVID AARON FRIEDHEIM | |||||||||
| David Friedheim is a sculptor who works primarily in steel combining hand wrought elements with industrial cast-offs. His sometimes whimsical, sometimes frightening creatures have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States. He has taught welded sculpture and team taught classes with industry-trained metal workers. In 2000 the Hermitage Sculpture Garden in Santa Barbara purchased a twenty-two foot tall and twenty-foot wide sculpture of David's for its permanent collection. In addition to his own work David frequently workes with his partner Trisha Kyner under the name of Grendel's Mother. As Grendel's Mother they work collaboratively on large-scale public art projects. In partnership with universities, museums and elementary schools they have led groups of adults as well as children in the creation of sculptures in such materials as cement, tile, metal and paper mache. |
