JON FRANCIS
		Jon was born and raised in Laguna Beach, an early California art colony of Plein Air Painters. While still in high school, he won awards for his art in the Orange County Fair. He then went on to earn his Bachelor of Professional Arts at The Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles where he studied Advertising Design and painting with Lorser Feitlelson, Harry Carmean and Bernice Polifka. While working as an Advertising Art Director in New York and San Francisco, Jon designed, painted and carved in wood many pieces of art including the Pepperage Farm logo, the Robert Mondavi winery logo and many privately commissioned works. In 1980 he started Jon Francis Films and went on to direct over 1,000 television commercials and many short films. He has won awards in every major show, inluding Gold Lions at the Cannes International Film Festival. Jon has exhibited at the William Bell Gallery in New York, The Nut Tree Gallery in Vacaville, the Bolinas Museum, Napa Museum of Art, the MarinScapes Show in Marin County, Sonoma Plein Air Foundation, Scottsdale Artists' School, Marin Agricultural Land Trust, Laguna Plein Air Invitational, Carmel Art Festival, San Luis Obispo Art Festival, Environmental Action Committee of West Marin and the California Art Club. He is represented by the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara and the Claudia Chapline Gallery in Stinson Beach. He has done painting workshops with Randal Sexton, Ken Auster, Carolyn Anderson, Peggy Kroll Roberts, Matt Smith and Bye Bitney. Jon lives with his wife, Sandra, in Stinson Beach and Santa Barbara.
